The Canadian Rockies are spectacular to visit any time of the year.  If possible, rent a car in Vancouver Canada and drive to Jasper Alberta.

From Jasper, drive south through the heart of the Rocky Mountains to Banff, Alberta.  From Banff, return to Vancouver via Kelowna.

The best time of year to see wildlife is in spring or fall when animals descend from the high mountains to the valleys.

Jasper Alberta is 900 km (10 hours) northeast of Vancouver.  Banff is 955 km (11 hours) from Vancouver.
