Vancouver BC Tourist Information and City Guide
Vancouver BC is one of those rare places where great skiing and snowboarding is available just minutes away from the city centre. In fact, there are three nearby ski resorts!
The three winter resorts are located across the harbour from downtown Vancouver. They offer downhill skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing, snowshoeing and tobogganing.
From west to east, they are: Cypress Mountain, Grouse Mountain and Mount Seymour.
Cypress Mountain is Vancouver's biggest ski resort comprised of two adjacent mountains: Hollyburn and Strachan Mountain.
Cypress has two high-speed quad chairlifts, two quads, two double chairlifts and 53 alpine runs. Sometimes referred to as Cypress Bowl, the ski area is a 30-minute drive from downtown.
Grouse Mountain in North Vancouver is the closest ski hill to Vancouver city centre. The 1,200 meter mountain has four chairlifts and 33 runs. It features the best panoramic view of downtown Vancouver.
Mount Seymour is also in North Vancouver. It rises to an elevation of 1,449 meters high and has 41 runs and 3 chairs.
From any of Vancouver's three ski hills, incredible views of the Vancouver skyline can be enjoyed. Daytime and evening skiing is available at all three ski hills.
The Vancouver ski season normally begins on December 1st. and ends at the end of March.
